Ohlsson and rice chainsaw11/16/2022 ![]() ![]() Tony Robinson is ready to carve the rough shape of an eagle’s head in his work tent on Ocean Beach Road.Ī failed marriage turned Robinson’s life and career upside down leaving him penniless and depressed. This year-long project included the remodel of 17 cabins, the demolition of the old lodge and the construction of a new pump house. As lead construction superintendent, he renovated Iron Springs Resort beginning in 2010. After building custom homes in Texas, he came to Grays Harbor in 1997 where he worked for Bill Peters Construction, Western Washington Construction and Northwest Catastrophe. He had always wanted to build houses, a career he pursued for 20 years. Chainsaw sculptor Tony Robinson only recently completed this imaginative piece carved from local redwood on the lot of Seabreeze Gallery, a new store and gallery exhibiting and selling the work of 30 local artists and artisans. The god’s bust is emerging from a totem-pole-style column of whimsical sea creatures: serpent monsters, shark, turtles atop whales and seals. Burnis's info is in the attachment. In Copalis Crossing, at the Hogan’s Corner intersection, a monumental statue of the Greek sea god Poseidon is lifting its trident 15-feet high into the sky. I recently found an excerpt in a news letter that Burnis Ray took over Vic's service but I don't know how current the info is. This was my favorite fuel for SAM competition so I outfitted all my best engines with them. Vic also used to make Aluminum fuel bowls and precision fine thread needle valves so you could easily run Methanol. Its perfect to run these old timers with. He was one of the only places that would sell Pennzoil 70wt ashless aircraft oil by the quart. I talked with him several times before he passed. I'm really looking forward to it, but it ain't 8am yet, and I have to wait for a reasonable hour when I can make a bit of noise. PS: I've just overhauled the timer assembly on one of the first Ohlsson Miniatures. ![]() The Art Gross gentleman mentioned may have been well-known in the area where he lived/operated, and anyone who does good things to old engines has my greatest respect but, internationally, I've only ever heard of Vic and George as Ohlsson references. I'm a long-time Ohlsson collector and, before George, the late Vic Didelot was the acknowledged source for all things Ohlsson, including rebuilds, but that's going back 30 or 40 years. ![]()
